Bottom painting that keeps growth off and speed on
Keys water grows things fast. Once bottom paint wears thin, barnacles and slime move in, and you feel it in your top speed and your fuel bill.
Dapper Marine does the full bottom job: cleaning, sanding and prep, then fresh marine-grade antifouling paint.
Before
AfterHow we do a bottom job
- Hull bottom cleaned of growth and old, loose paint
- Sanded and prepped so the new coat bonds
- Waterline masked for a sharp, straight line
- Marine-grade antifouling paint applied
- Color-matched bottoms when you don't want black
Prep is the job
The Boston Whaler above came in with its old bottom paint flaking off in sheets. New paint over that would have peeled right along with it, so the loose paint came off first.
Bottom paint doesn't have to be black, either. We've color-matched bottom coats to the hull, like the gray bottom on the light blue boat in our gallery.

Common questions
How often does a boat need new bottom paint?
It depends on the paint, how often the boat runs and where it's kept. When the paint is worn or growth is taking hold, it's time. Send us a photo and we'll tell you.
Does bottom paint have to be black?
No. We've done color-matched bottom coats to suit the hull.
Can you clean my bottom without repainting it?
Yes. We've cleaned heavy barnacle growth off hulls, including a pontoon, without a full repaint when the paint underneath was still sound.
How much does bottom painting cost?
It depends on the boat's length, the hull's condition and the paint you choose. Call or text 305-852-8335 for a quote.
